Rob Hancocks and the ‘Cool Running’ crew are planning to raise as much money as they possibly can for the Hope House Hospice, Shropshire and The Great Western Air Ambulance service in Bristol
Making the most of short and precious lives
When a parent is told their child will not live to be an adult it is the start of an agonising journey. A childhood terminal illness challenges every belief, emotion and dream a parent may have for their special son or daughter.
Hope House

Hope House

Hope House was named after a child, Hope Peachey, who died aged just eight months. Hope House opened in May 1995 and more than 250 terminally ill children and their families have been cared for there. Hope House was purpose built to cater for the special needs and requirements of children who visit from Shropshire, Cheshire, the Wrexham area and Powys.
The services of Hope House are free of charge to all families - no matter what their circumstances are.
In fact, Hope House never closes: they are there 24 hours a day, all year round, to help whenever they are needed. Demand for the services of Hope House is such that they have also opened Ty Gobaith, a new hospice in Conwy, North Wales.
It costs £3.5 million a year to run both hospices which rely almost entirely upon donations as well as many generous individuals who fundraise on our behalf by organising fantastic fundraising events across the regions.
Hope House is a registered charity, number 1003859

Great Western Air Ambulance

Great Western Air Ambulance

Since June 3rd 2008 there is a new shape in the skies above Bristol, Gloucestershire, Avon, North Somerset and Wiltshire.
Now flying 7 days a week, we are already providing a much needed resource utilising an advanced medical model by providing a pre-hospital trauma trained doctor and an air paramedic trained to critical care standard and an aircraft packed with sophisticated equipment, our Bolkow 109 helicopter can, literally, bring the facilities of the "A&E Department" direct to the patient on-scene leading to increased outcomes for that patient.
However every penny of the £1.3 million that the charity needs to fund the aircraft each year will have to be raised within our community and we must rely on the generosity of the public-as we receive neither state or lottery fund aid.
