The Cool Running RIB will be a Wahoo Barracuda, its hull designed by Lorne Campbell the Naval Architect of the '2005 Round Britain World Record holder Blade Runner 51' in 27 hours and 10 minutes
In preparation for the London Boat Show, it is our intention to offer the fully race prepared RIB back to Wahoo for display usage on their stand. We intend to build and develop the boats' pedigree, successfully demonstrating the sea keeping capabilities and luxury build quality to the UK market.
Performance
The key to Barracuda's performance lies in its hull design which has been developed from a family of race-winning power boats. The deep "V" hull was designed by the world-acclaimed marine designer Lorne Campbell (www.lornecampbelldesign.com) - the name behind a host of incredible race machines including Bladerunner which broke the Round Britain World Record in 2005 (27 hours and 10 minutes), which in itself is an excellent news hook.
Like all the best powerboats, it's not just about straight line performance. The Barracuda handles the sea incredibly well without the bow-up attitude so common on powerful RIBs.
She is powered by two super-charged Mercury Verados each producing 350 HP. It's hard to imagine the jaw-dropping power and acceleration and harder still to believe how this can be achieved so quietly and smoothly. Top speed, for those brave enough to attempt, is around 80 mph!
Comfort
The Barracuda is not all beast - it has beauty too. In this specially modified race prepared rib, the driver, co-pilot and crew members are cosseted in 2 pairs of racing seats straight from the cockpit of a super car.
Technology
The Barracuda is bristling with state of the art technology. To ensure we don't get lost we've installed the latest Raymarine navigation systems.
